Plump It Up With Hyaluronic Acid

It may sound like a Harry Potter spell, but this skincare ingredient is the key to softer, smoother, and hydrated skin. It's everywhere — in face masks, lotions, injectables, serums, and even dietary supplements. You've probably even seen Eva Longoria on your television screen helping you pronounce it correctly — Hiya-lurr-onic-Acid (Thanks Eva).
Hyaluronic Acid, or H.A., is a gel-like substance that is naturally produced in our joints, eyes and skin. The molecule is manufactured in the same brilliant cells that make collagen and has the vital role of keeping your skin moisturized and balanced. In fact, it absorbs up to 1,000 times its weight in water, keeping your skin plump, dewey and thriving.
The average human body contains about 15 grams of Hyaluronic Acid, but as we age, gracefully and flawlessly nonetheless, we tend to produce less and less. One third of our H.A. reserves gets degraded and synthesized each and every day. While that sounds like a dismal prognosis, fear not-your daily supply of H.A. can easily be supplemented with a topical solution keeping you hydrated and looking your best.

Studies have shown that when applied directly to the skin, Hyaluronic Acid helps maintain our skin's elasticity and protects our skin from free radicals, which are thought to be responsible for age-related changes in appearance, such as wrinkles (we prefer smile lines). Hyaluronic Acid also has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, giving the skin a softer, smoother complexion with a reduction in redness and potential breakouts.
To provide a youthful, healthy glow for all skin types, we paired Hyaluronic Acid with other anti-aging ingredients, such as Prickly Pear Oil and Provitamin B5 in our CBD-infused Face Serum. Together, these ingredients penetrate the skin to soothe, hydrate, and reduce the appearance of wrinkles. Learn more about our Face Serum here!
